How can I tell if my Banarasi Georgette is authentic?

(Check the reverse side for floating threads from the brocade work. Pure silk georgette passes the burn testā€”burns to ash smelling like hair, while faux polyester melts. Pure georgette feels warm and faintly grainy, while faux feels slick and plasticky).

How do I maintain and wash it?

(Dry cleaning is highly recommended, especially for sarees with heavy zari. Store folded in muslin or cotton bags, not plastic. Refold every 3-4 months to avoid permanent creases).

Can I iron it?

(Yes, but only on the lowest heat/silk setting with a cotton cloth placed over the saree. Never iron directly on the zari or embroidery).
