Sixty Years in Chickpet. Three Generations on the Floor.

Long before Kuberan Silks became a 16,000 sq. ft. landmark at #226, Chickpet, Bengaluru, our family started right here in the same historic market lanes over 60 years ago as a wholesale textile shop.

Working in wholesale taught us something simple: families shopping for weddings and milestones wanted pure, authentic silk at an honest price—without having to guess whether the zari or the weave was genuine.

In 2001, Mr. Komarla A. Venkatesh and Mr. Komarla V. Vishnu opened the doors to the Kuberan Silks retail showroom in a 2,000 sq. ft. space. From day one, Mr. Vishnu carried a clear vision: to take India’s small-scale handloom and handwork weavers and give them the scale, economic support, and platform of a major showroom. When weavers are supported fairly, the craft survives—and customers get sarees with real soul.

Three Generations Working as One

Walk into Kuberan Silks on any given day and you won’t find management tucked away in closed offices. All three generations of our family work together on the showroom floor.

As Mr. Komarla A. Venkatesh puts it: "A family business isn’t about dividing responsibilities into separate corners—it’s about working and coordinating together."

From Our Looms to Your Wardrobe: Why We Reject What Doesn't Pass
We work with multiple looms and weaving clusters across India. Because handloom silk is a living craft, we never rely on supplier tags alone.

Before a single saree reaches our display shelves, it goes through a strict two-stage quality check led by our Quality Check (QC) & Quality Assurance (QA) team and personally verified by Mr. K.V. Vishnu. Every piece is tested by hand and eye for:

Zari Purity: Checking the authenticity and finish of the metallic threads.

Warp & Weft Tension: Ensuring the weave is tight, even, and built to hold up over decades.

Weight Balance & Drape Comfort: Making sure the saree sits naturally on the shoulder and pleats cleanly without feeling stiff.

Thread Strength: Checking yarn integrity across the body, border, and pallu.

Zero Defects: Inspecting under bright light for stains, uneven dyeing, or color bleeding.

If a saree falls short on any of these points, we reject it at the inspection table.
