A rare weave from the looms of India's most celebrated ikat tradition. This magnificent double ikat mal cotton saree is woven entirely by hand, every motif, every colour, every thread precisely resist-dyed before weaving, resulting in the characteristic soft-edged beauty that only authentic double ikat can produce. A rich crimson, deep red base is traversed by diagonal ikat stripe lines in cream, scattered with triangular umbrella tree motifs in forest green with gold tips and elongated gold diamond leaf shapes, a composition of geometric poetry. The lower panel reveals the masterpiece: grand circular ikat medallions, each centring a resplendent blue peacock with spread tail in green, gold, and white, framed by a teal/navy ikat band with white diamond motifs.
