1. What is pure Tussar silk?
Tussar silk (also known as Kosa, Tussah, or wild silk) is an exquisite, uncultivated silk produced primarily by larvae of several species of silkworms belonging to the moth genus Antheraea. Unlike traditional Mulberry silk where silkworms are fed a strict diet indoors, Tussar silkworms live in the wild forests (mostly in India, China, and Japan) and feed on local trees like Sal and Arjun.

2. How should I wash and care for Tussar silk?
Tussar silk is delicate and loses its strength when wet. Proper care is essential to maintain its sheen and texture:

Washing: Dry cleaning is highly recommended, especially for the first few washes or for heavily dyed garments like sarees.

Hand Washing (If you must): Use cold water and a very mild, pH-neutral liquid detergent (like baby shampoo). Do not soak the fabric for more than a few minutes.

Drying: Never wring or twist the fabric. Roll it gently in a clean towel to remove excess water, then dry it flat in the shade. Direct sunlight will fade the natural dyes and weaken the fibers.

Ironing: Always iron on a low/silk setting while the fabric is still slightly damp, or use a cotton pressing cloth between the iron and the silk.
