A sacred pond in full bloom, woven in raw silk. This extraordinary saree is a Kalamkari masterpiece, a soft sage/grey-green textured silk base with fine vertical gold zari shimmer stripes, hand-painted with an all-over lotus pond composition of breathtaking detail. Tall curving lotus stems rise across the entire body, bearing multicoloured blooms in dusty pink, teal blue, cream, and ivory at various stages of flowering, each rendered in fine dark brown outline with the unhurried hand of a master craftsman. Nestled within the composition are two large ornate circular rope-twist medallions, each enclosing a pair of sacred Hamsa swans in a serene pond scene, a motif of purity, grace and divine love drawn from India's oldest artistic traditions. The lower border presents a charming row of large circular spotted medallions in alternating pink, teal, and cream.

1. What makes a printed raw silk saree special?

While traditional raw silk is usually solid-colored or features woven zari borders, printed raw silk combines the rustic, rich texture of the fabric with modern or traditional graphic designs. From digital floral prints and geometric patterns to traditional Kalamkari and Madhubani motifs, printing adds a vibrant, contemporary flair to a classic heritage fabric.

2. Do these sarees stretch or shrink?
Pure raw silk does not stretch. It may experience minimal shrinkage (around 1-2%) if washed in water, which is why dry cleaning is always the safest bet to maintain its original dimensions.
