Kuberan orange & Wine Maroon Zardosi Kanchipuram Silk Saree – Teal Backdrop

Two of India’s most storied colours — the warm, burnished glow of antique copper orange and the deep, ceremonial richness of wine maroon — come together in this extraordinary Kanchipuram silk saree. It is a piece that feels simultaneously ancient and alive, as though it has been waiting centuries to be worn.

The body is woven in antique copper silk with a dense, all-over self-pattern of small ogee medallions in tonal gold zari — a weave so fine it catches light like hammered metal. Scattered across this field are hand-applied Zardosi butti: each one a teardrop-shaped motif of raised goldwork, outlined in chain-stitch and set with round-cut rhinestones that glint like dewdrops on bronze.

The border is where the saree makes its most dramatic statement. A wide wine maroon panel is entirely covered in large-scale Zardosi ogee motifs — each one a layered composition of antique gold bullion thread, satin-stitch petals, sequins, and pearl-tipped rhinestones. The motifs are bold, architectural, and deeply three-dimensional, creating a border that reads as wearable sculpture.

A chevron wave of sequins and rhinestones runs along the lower edge of the border, adding a final flourish of movement and light.
