How should I wash and care for soft silk?

While they are easier to handle than heavy silks, they still require delicate care:

Washing: Dry cleaning is highly recommended, especially for the first few washes, to maintain the fabric's natural sheen. If hand-washing later, use cold water and a mild baby shampoo. Never wring the fabric.

Drying: Always air dry in the shade; direct sunlight weakens silk fibers and fades the color.

How do I store them so they last?

Store your saree wrapped in a breathable cotton or muslin cloth bag. Never use plastic covers, which trap moisture and cause mildew. Refold the saree every few months along different crease lines to prevent the silk from tearing at the folds.Keep naphthalene balls away from direct contact with the fabric; use silica gel packets or dried neem leaves nearby to keep pests away.
