Pure Kanchipuram silk saree in deep plum purple plain silk with a spectacular broad self-colour plum purple border entirely covered in dense multi-band silver zari horizontal stripe sequences — alternating bands of fine silver zari diamond lattice (kattam jaal), silver zari bead-dot rows, silver zari geometric cross-hatch, small silver zari floral rosette rows and fine silver zari horizontal line sequences, stacked in a continuous multi-band repeat covering the entire border ground. The silver zari creates a luminous, shimmering contrast against the deep plum purple silk — the alternating geometric band patterns give the border an architectural, rhythmic quality unique to the finest Kanchipuram multi-band stripe weaving.

The border transitions from the plain plum purple body via a dramatic large stepped temple gopuram (kalasam) spike top edge in silver zari — a bold, multi-tiered stepped pyramid silhouette rising from the border into the plain body, one of the most architecturally iconic korvai transition forms in Kanchipuram weaving. 1. How should I store my Kanchipuram silk saree?
Store your Kanchipuram silk saree in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Wrap it in a soft muslin or cotton cloth rather than plastic to allow the fabric to breathe. Refold the saree every few months along different lines to prevent permanent creases. Keep neem leaves or silica gel packets nearby to protect against moisture and insects.
