FAQ

1. What is a Paithani Silk Saree?
A Paithani is a traditional handwoven silk saree originating from Maharashtra, India. It is characterized by borders of an oblique square design and a pallu (the flowing end of the saree) adorned with intricate motifs like peacocks, parrots, or lotuses. They are woven from very fine silk and feature metallic zari (gold or silver threads).

2. Where do Paithani sarees come from?
Historically, they originated in the town of Paithan in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. Today, the town of Yeola in the Nashik district is the largest hub for weaving authentic handloom Paithani sarees.

3. How can I identify an authentic handloom Paithani saree?
The hallmark of a true handwoven Paithani is its reverse side.

The Pallu Test: Look at the back of the pallu. In a genuine handloom Paithani, the reverse side will look almost exactly identical to the front, with no loose threads or meshes of silk.

Machine-made vs. Handloom: Machine-made or power-loom Paithanis will have a mesh of loose threads on the reverse side of the design.

Wonderful experience!

I ordered two sarees from the UK to be delivered to my address in India. The shopping experience was hassle free with Mr Ganesh helping me over WhatsApp to select the best saree pattern and design. Without Ganesh's help, I wouldn't have been able to select the perfect sarees for my boy's party. Thanks for your help :)

Very good collection. Even better staff.
We came here for wedding shopping. Ms. Veena is brilliant sales person with tonnes of patience. The other staff members are also very friendly. They showed us the sarees without any hesitation and made sure we were satisfied before shopping. We shopped here entirely for everyone and it's a very good place to shop. Highly recommend to visit this store
